PRICE TRANSPARENCY RULES

You will see from our practice areas that we practice in a diverse range of practice areas. However, in respect of some practice areas the SRA require us to display prices and service information which is referred to as the SRA’s Price Transparency Rules.

The SRA’s Price Transparency Rules require us to provide further information about our prices and service information in relation to the following areas:

  • Residential conveyancing.

  • Employment Tribunals in unfair and wrongful dismissal claims.

  • Debt Recovery up to £100,000.

The SRA’s Price Transparency Rules extend to other practice areas which we do not practice in including uncontested probate matters, motoring offences (summary offences), immigration (excluding asylum), and licensing applications for business premises. As we do not provide legal services in these practice areas no information is provided in respect of these areas.

Charging practice

Our terms of engagement explain how we apply our charging practices, hourly rates, VAT, incurring of disbursements, how we charge for time spent dealing with your matter, whether any aspect of our work will be carried out on a time-cost basis or fixed fee basis, and our additional time spent outside the normal course of events will be chargeable on a time-cost basis which is summarised below:

Hourly Rate

Our hourly rates are set out in our terms of engagement. They are currently:

  • £480 per hour for a partner/director (more than 8 years post-qualification experience).

  • £385 per hour for a senior solicitor (more than 4 years post-qualification experience).

  • £310 per hour for a solicitor (up to 4 years post-qualification experience).

  • £220 per hour for a paralegals/trainee solicitor (who have completed requisite legal qualifications).

These rates are reviewed periodically to reflect increases in overhead costs and inflation. Normally the rates are reviewed with effect from 1 January each year.
